Rowdy Rathore proves too expensive for Bhansali
Jun 5th 2012, 11:45

His movie Rowdy Rathore may have been one of the best openers at BO, however Sanjay Leela Bhansali is not rejoicing. In a first, Bhansali had to dish out a huge Rs. 50 lakh in an out-of court negotiation along with Hyderabad based music label Aditya Music that claims it owns the legal rights of the song ‘Chintata’ from Rowdy Rathore.

Though the movie has been doing roaring business, the producers were slapped with a legal notice from the music company over the hit song. Wanting to stay away from legal troubles, Bhansali preferred for an out-of-court settlement with the company. The reason behind the case was that though Bhansali bought the privileges of the movie, he didn’t realise the legal rights of the track were with the music company.

Later, the song was re-created for Rowdy Rathore by Sajid-Wajid. However, once the song was launched, Aditya Music sent a lawful notice to Bhansali who took it to UTV. Opting out of the legal tussle, Bhansali resolved for an out of court negotiation to avoid the whole farce surrounding the legal process.
